Studying is a huge thing with IB. Whether it’s studying for the exams or simply a test, in IB we have to study A LOT. These websites are so useful that teachers and parents can use them. Let’s introduce the opponents in this battle.
The two websites that I’ll be comparing are Revision Village and Revision Dojo.
Throughout my IB career, I used these websites HEAVILY in studying. I think both are good websites to use and recommend them, but let’s dive deeper than that.
Round 1: Revision Village
At first glance, the website shows that it’s mainly an IB math resource, but has other subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. Similarly to Revision Dojo, Revision Village has a range of subjects, but it’s mainly known for math, so if you’re struggling with math like I was, this is a good website for the beginning topics. I understand why they display that they’re mainly used for IB math because it is more useful for math than anything else. Moreover, when you dive deeper into the website, it has question banks, practice exams, key concepts, and past papers available. This is so useful in my opinion. The website having all of these resources in one is so valuable. Students that I’ve spoken to have said:
“Village was great for math. The step-by-step explanations were useful.” -Allison ‘24
“I definitely learned and was challenged more by Revision Village, especially for math AI.” -Kim ‘24
I can agree Revision Village was significantly helpful with math, however, it was basically too good to be true. Unlike Revision Dojo, Revision Village requires you to subscribe and pay for the majority of its information. Of course, it’s a business so makes sense, but it’s difficult for us as students and maybe even teachers and students, to acquire the help we need when we have to pay for it. Nonetheless, I still recommended Revision Village when studying the earlier topics as they are the only ones available for free. Additionally, this website can be very good for teachers to acquire past material or to give students material in the early stages, but again the limited free content disrupts its overall usefulness. But, any help is good, so take advantage of the free things on the website.
Round 2: RevisionDojo
Now, at first glance, the website acknowledges that it has “100% free practice questions, study notes, & flashcards.” Unlike Revision Village, RevisionDojo isn’t known for only one subject, instead it has so much FREE information on so many topics. This is so helpful for students, even teachers, and parents who just need quick access to easy and helpful resources. Diving deeper into the site, it shows the many subjects, but also the completely free resources such as question banks, study notes, flashcards, and more. I recommend this website as your first option when studying for exams because you have so much free material that there’s not much you can’t find. Students have said things such as:
“Dojo>>> very easy to navigate and super helpful with access to previous questions.” -Allison ‘24
“I think RevisionDojo was better for studying content for memorization over understanding.” - Lillian ‘24
With all good things, there are limitations. RevisionDojo has practice questions that are definitely helpful when studying, but it doesn’t provide detailed and helpful information when trying to build a better understanding. With this though, I say it is a better website at providing studying material than teaching material. However, this doesn’t diminish its value as a resource. Even so, I think teachers and parents can also use this website to help their students by using the “Test Builder” tool. It can create a paper for the teachers to use as practice exams for their students. So overall, Revision Dojo is a really amazing website for everyone.
Although both websites have their downsides, none of them outweigh their valuable resources. However, if you’re ever struggling with a subject and need study material, I would suggest RevisionDojo over Revision Village as it just has so much more content that is actually helpful and FREE.
With all the helpful websites trying to get monetary gain out of students, teachers, and parents, Revision Dojo is one of the few websites I have found that actually has entirely free resources. Thus, I deem RevisionDojo the winner of this web war.
