About Yui Sum (Summi)

Hi there! I graduated from the International Baccalaureate in May 2024, achieving 41/45 points with 7s in Higher Levels English Language & Literature, Psychology, and Music. I am currently an undergraduate Psychology student at Durham University, but am willing to do tutoring on the side. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, cooking, and watching Marvel films :)

About your lesson

My friends and teachers describe me as compassionate and understanding, and a good listener. I aim to understand your individual ways of learning and tailor my teaching approach accordingly. I also like to use modelling, examples, metaphors, and a step-wise approach to explaining concepts, including application to the real-world to enrich conceptual understanding, instead of memorisation. I have a relaxed and patient approach to learning & guidance. I do not condone pressure-driven teaching as the IB is stressful enough. It’s totally okay to feel unsure of where to start (I was there once) – Let’s look at your work according to the criteria and start building goals from there :)
