About Vanessa

Hi! My name is Vanessa and I scored IB45 in the May 24 exams. I'm an experienced tutor with a love for STEM, and for helping my students develop their confidence. I help students realise their potential and train their abilities in their subjects so that they can achieve the grades that they are truly capable of! My expertise is trusted with over 2 years of experience, as well as having self-studied and completed two A-Levels in Maths and Further Maths alongside my IBDP. I am empathetic and supportive, but also disciplined and flexible and these are qualities which have allowed me to teach a wide variety of students from a range of starting points. In my free time, I like to play Minecraft as well as solve math problems. Looking forward to working together!

About your lesson

I like to begin with a diagnostic assessment (very informal) to help the student assess their strengths and weaknesses, and to understand how these weaknesses can be mitigated. This is also my way of instilling the ability to accept failure and mistakes, and to see such flaws not as a reason for discouragement but rather for growth. After the assessment, we will work on the points of weakness as well as any of the student's concerns that they encounter throughout the process. We will work through firstly the fundamentals behind a topic and truly understanding the concept, then moving on to more rigorous but rewarding practice sessions focused specifically on exam-style questions to ensure the best chance of success within an examination context. I aim to teach my students the value of discipline and resilience through my approach.
